Emma’s new Update

January 31, 2008

I received updated information and photos of little Emma. The photos show her in her new coat & pants, with the man that checks on the children and does the updates, and her eating cake. You’ll also notice her shaved head, this is common in Chinese orphanages so I guess the foster family continues it. Click the photos for larger sizes.

Here are some highlights from her update:

“Emma is active, smart and beautiful. She has been smiling all the time when receiving the New Year’s present and she always holds the precious gift in her hands. The moment she sees you, she is always smiling at you! I hugged her unbearably! What a good lambkin!”

“Emma has almost full teeth and can speak and run. She can eat by herself. This time she gave me another surprise. When I wanted to help her put on the coat, she stretched out her arms. The moment I left, she waved goodbye to me. What an intelligent girl!”

It also said she had a cold and was taken to the SWI (doctor/clinic) but shes all better now. Her birthday is next month! I don’t know what day but she will be turning two next month. She sure is doing well, thanks to all your donations.

Emma likes to dance!

January 1, 2008

I got another report on Emma’s progress. Here are some cute pictures of her dancing! This was the photo caption from the man who checks in on the foster children, “I can rock my buns, left, left, right, right, go, turn around. Go! Go! Go!” Click to see them larger.

Here are some of Emma’s updates:

“Little Emma is active, smart and beautiful. She likes playing outside with other buddies. She couldn’t walk steadily when entering the family. But now she can run fast.”

“Little Emma has almost full teeth and can speak and run. She can eat by herself. This time she has learned something. She can follow some simple instructions, such as squat yourself down, clean your mouth, stand up. The moment I left her home, she even waved goodbye to me. She is great, isn’t she?”

November 30, 2007

Today I have received a very sweet update on Emma. She is doing so well in her new foster home.

This is the email I received today:

I am attaching your first report on your sponsored child, Emma. Our monitor did a very good job getting developmental information on the children as well as a cute story and picture. The children are adjusting well to being in their families and it sounds like they are benefiting from the more individualized care they are receiving. Some comments that appeared frequently in the reports were “likes to embrace” and “not choosy in food”. That just warms my heart, to know they are being well-fed and shown affection! Some one has asked about the building they are in, so I asked the Foster Care Director who visited the orphanage in October what it was like. Apparently the apartments are set up like duplexes, with one family living on the bottom floor and one on top. The duplexes are built around a concrete courtyard. There are small plots outside the duplexes where the families have small vegetable gardens, and a few flowers. Their apartments are roomy and spacious. I was also happy to see some of the children in strollers and outside, completely bundled up. Temperatures are already quite cold in China!
Please feel free to contact me if you should have any questions about your sponsorship. May you be blessed during the holiday season, knowing you are making a wonderful difference in the life of your sponsored child!

For her privacy, I will not post the report I was given on her. But here are a few little facts that were included:

“She eats almost very food offered and has never been choosy in food”
“She couldn’t walk steadily when entering the family, but now she can run fast.”
“Emma has almost full teeth and can speak and run.”

Baby News!

October 27, 2007

I got an email last night from Love Without Boundaries. Here is some of the email regarding Kyle that was sponsored for a foster family:
“The child you had chosen to sponsor has already had his paperwork
filed for International Adoption. The team made the decision while
they were there to not put him through two moves in such a short
period of time – from the orphanage, to a foster family, and then back
to the orphanage prior to his adoption (most provinces require this
last move before the child is adopted).
They felt it was really in the best interest of the child to leave him
in one place since his adoption is upcoming.”

“They were able to select another child for placement in foster care,
and they chose the cute little girl whose picture I am attaching. She is 20 months old, and the team said she is very responsive and cute.”

I decided to go ahead and sponsor the little girl they have chosen. I picked Emma has her western/program name. Here she is!
